Reading & Performance

Although composing Tanka is the basis of my activity, I would like to continue reading performances both in Japan and abroad.
It is meaningful for me to offer opportunities to listen to the sound of Japansefor the tanka lovers overseas. I would also like to collaborate with the other forms of art such as paintings, music, photographs, movies, etc, to express myself.
I sincerely hope my activiteis make contributions to the increase of tanka lovers worldwide.

The following is the history of reading performances to date.
I deeply appreciated a chance to do reading of a colleciton of poems at Ms. Amelia Fielden's publication party held in Canberra in September 2005. I hope to have more chances in the future to vibrate Japanese rhythm sounds, consisting of units of 5 and 7 syllables, in front of literary people overseas, through activities such as these.

Ms. Sachiko Nagata, the Hamohn perrformer, who has just returned from the concert in Paris, added a wonderful sound accompaniment to the bilingual Tanka reading performed by Ms. A. Fielden and I.
Mr. Shiro Akiba, the chairman of the Japan Tanka Poets' Society, seemed to be highly interested in our collaboration.

I was very glad to know that the people in Okinawa accepted me and my performance.
I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Yoko Tamaki and the poets in Okinawa who gave me such an honorable opportunity.
